Online Goal Tracker
Set it, see it, achieve it. Track long-term ambitions and monthly targets in one place — with a growing record of everything you've accomplished.
What is the Goals Tab?
The “Goals” section (under the 🏆 Goals tab, third icon in the bottom navigation) is where you define and monitor your objectives. Goals are organized into Pending ⌛ and Completed ✅ — so you always know what's next, and you build a visible record of your wins.
It comes in two flavors, as sub-tabs:
🎯 Long Goals
Big-picture or ongoing targets with no deadline — “Save $5k,” “Learn Spanish,” “Run a marathon.” Free & unlimited.
📅 Monthly Goals Pro
Time-bound targets tied to a specific month — “Read 2 books this month,” “Exercise 20 days.”
Creating a Long-Term Goal
- Open the 🏆 Goals tab — the Long Goals sub-tab is active by default.
- In the “Add a Goal” input, type a clear, concise objective (e.g., “Run a marathon” — up to 500 characters).
- Click Add Goal — it appears in “Pending Goals ⌛” with icons: 🕒 (pending), ✏️ (edit), ❌ (delete), ✓ (complete).
Tip: Use specific, measurable language — “Read 12 books this year” beats “Read more.” No limits for free users: add as many goals as you want.
Managing Your Goals
- Edit a goal: Hover over a pending goal and click ✏️. Update the text, then click “Save” (or “Cancel” to discard).
- Complete a goal: Click ✓ (green checkmark) — it moves to “Completed ✅” with a satisfying “complete goal” tone. 🎉
- Restore a goal: Changed your mind? Click ↩️ on a completed goal to move it back to Pending.
- Delete a goal: Click ❌ on any goal (pending or completed), then confirm in the popup.
Note: Deletion is permanent and can't be recovered — completed goals, however, can always be restored.
Tip: Completed goals sort by completion date (newest first), and you can hover over any goal to see its timestamps.
Monthly Goals Pro
Long-term dreams need short-term wins. Monthly Goals let you set targets for any specific month and year:
- Click the Monthly Goals sub-tab (free users see a locked message).
- Pick a period with the “Year:” and “Mo:” dropdowns (defaults to the current month).
- In the “Add a Monthly Goal” input, type your goal (up to 500 characters) and click Add Goal.
Managing works exactly like long goals — edit, complete, restore, or delete with the same icons. Switch periods anytime to plan future months in advance.
Tip: Goals don't copy between months — add them fresh each period. That's by design: every month starts with intention.
Goals Work Better with the Rest of RytePad
- Break goals into daily action: Turn “Run a marathon” into training runs in Daily Tasks.
- Reflect on progress: Log how each week went in your Daily Journal & Diary.
- Checklist a project: Use Task Lists for the concrete steps behind a big goal.
Tips for Effective Goal Setting
- Set SMART goals: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound — “Lose 10 pounds by December,” not “Get fit.”
- Break it down: Pair one long goal with monthly goals as milestones.
- Review weekly: Open your Pending Goals once a week and ask: what's the next small step?
- Keep the wins visible: Don't delete completed goals — your Completed list is motivation fuel.
Frequently Asked Questions
