Daily Tasks & To-Do Lists

Your personal, date-based to-do list. Plan each day, tick things off with satisfying sounds, and never let anything slip through the cracks — free and unlimited.

What are Daily Tasks?

Daily Tasks is the first tab in RytePad — a feature that lets you create, manage, and track tasks on a daily basis. It's date-based, so every task is tied to a specific day, with separate sections for Pending and Completed items. With Daily Tasks, you can:

  • Add new tasks for today or any future date — no limits, even on the free plan.
  • View pending and completed tasks at a glance.
  • Edit, complete, restore, or delete tasks as needed.
  • Navigate between days to plan ahead or review the past.
  • Search all your tasks by text and/or date range.

Whether you're organizing your workday, tracking errands, or planning ahead, Daily Tasks makes staying on top of your day simple.

How It Works

Creating Tasks

  1. Open the 📋 Tasks tab (first icon in the bottom navigation).
  2. In the “Add A Task” input, type your task (e.g., “Water the plants”).
  3. Click Add Task — it appears in Pending Tasks, with a quick “add” chime.
Note: Tasks are limited to 500 characters each. There's no limit on how many tasks you can add — free users get unlimited tasks.

Viewing Tasks

Tasks for the selected day appear in two sections:

  • Pending Tasks ⌛: Tasks you still need to complete.
  • Completed ✅: Tasks you've marked as done.

Each task shows action icons: ✏️ (edit), ✓ (complete), ❌ (delete). Hover over any task to see its timestamp — pending tasks show when they were added; completed tasks show both the added and completion time.

Editing Tasks

  1. Hover over a pending task and click ✏️.
  2. Make your changes, then click Save (or “Cancel” to discard).

Completing & Restoring Tasks

  1. Click ✓ (green checkmark) — the task moves to Completed ✅ with a satisfying “complete” tone.
  2. Changed your mind? Click ↩️ on a completed task to restore it back to Pending.

Deleting Tasks

  1. Click ❌ next to any task (pending or completed).
  2. Confirm the deletion in the popup.
Note: Deleted tasks are permanently removed and cannot be recovered — use this carefully. (Completed tasks, on the other hand, can always be restored.)

Navigating Between Days

  • Use the date picker at the top to jump to any date, or the previous (‹) and next (›) arrows to move day by day.
  • The selected date shows relative labels like “Today,” “Yesterday,” or “Tomorrow.”
  • Calendar dots: green dots mark days that have tasks, so you can spot busy days at a glance.

Auto-Copying Tasks Pro

Pro feature: Unfinished tasks automatically carry over to the next day at midnight. Copied tasks get a prefix showing how long they've been pending — “Call an Old Friend” becomes “D1|: Call an Old Friend” the next day, then “D2|:” and so on, up to Day 10 (D10).

Enable it from your Dashboard: check “Auto Copy Tasks Next Day.”

Email Reminders

  • Daily Pending Tasks Reminders: an evening email listing tasks you didn't complete that day. On by default.
  • Daily Upcoming Task Reminders: add tasks for future dates and get an email at 6:30 AM when the day arrives. On by default.

Manage both anytime under Dashboard → Newsletters.

Why RytePad's Daily Tasks?

  • Syncing: Your tasks sync seamlessly across all your devices — access them anywhere.
  • Search: Find any task, past or future, by keyword and/or date range from the 🔍 Search tab.
  • Satisfying feedback: Sound effects for adding, completing, and deleting keep task management enjoyable.
  • Plan ahead freely: No future-date limits — pre-plan next week or next month today.

Tips for Using Daily Tasks Effectively

  • Plan ahead: Add tasks for future dates — RytePad will remind you by email when the day arrives.
  • Review daily: Check your tasks each morning to plan your day, and switch back to past dates to review what got done.
  • Keep tasks specific: Short, actionable tasks (e.g., “Email invoice to Sam”) are easier to complete than vague ones.
  • Complete and reflect: Mark tasks done throughout the day, then use the Diary to reflect on your progress.
  • For non-daily to-dos: Use Task Lists for grocery lists, project checklists, and anything not tied to a date.
