What is RytePad?

RytePad is a free, web-based application that combines smart task management with daily journaling. It helps you organize daily tasks, set long-term goals, record thoughts and reflections, and stay productive with features like advanced search, tagging, and countdown timers.

How do I create an account?

Visit rytepad.com and click "Register." You'll need to provide:

  • Full Name: Letters, spaces, apostrophes, and hyphens only
  • Valid email address
  • Password: Minimum 8 characters with uppercase, lowercase, and a number

After registering, check your email for a welcome message, then log in at rytepad.com/login.php.

Is RytePad really free?

Yes, RytePad is completely free to use. All features including task management, journaling, goal setting, search functionality, and PDF exports are available at no cost.

No Hidden Fees: We believe productivity tools should be accessible to everyone. RytePad will always remain free with no premium tiers or subscription fees.

Core Features

What can I do with Daily Tasks?

The Daily Tasks feature allows you to:

  • Add tasks: Add tasks for specific dates using the date picker
  • Mark complete: Mark tasks as complete with a checkmark
  • Edit tasks: Edit existing tasks by clicking the edit icon
  • Delete tasks: Delete tasks you no longer need
  • View completed: View completed tasks in a separate section
  • Restore tasks: Restore completed tasks if needed

Days with tasks will show a dot in the calendar for easy reference.

How does the Journal feature work?

The Journal lets you record daily thoughts and reflections:

  • Date selection: Select any date using the date picker
  • Automatic timestamps: Write entries that are automatically timestamped
  • Daily notes: Add daily notes that auto-save after 10 seconds
  • Edit entries: Edit or delete previous entries
  • Date organization: Each entry is tied to a specific date for easy organization
Can I search through my content?

Yes! RytePad has powerful search functionality:

  • Task search: Search tasks by keyword and/or date range
  • Journal search: Search journal entries and notes separately
  • Highlighted results: Results show highlighted keywords for easy scanning
  • Quick navigation: Click on journal search results to jump directly to that date
  • Clear filters: Use the "Clear" button to reset search filters

Organization & Productivity

How do Goals work?

Goals help you track long-term objectives:

  • Add goals: Add goals in the dedicated Goals tab
  • Mark completed: Mark goals as completed when achieved
  • Edit goals: Edit or delete goals as needed
  • View completed: View completed goals separately
  • Restore goals: Restore completed goals if you want to work on them again
What are Tags and how do I use them?

Tags help you categorize and organize content:

  • Create tags: Create tags with names up to 25 characters (letters, numbers, spaces, and special characters like -, _, #, @, *, ?)
  • Add content: Add content to tags for organization
  • Search and filter: Search and filter through your tags
  • Auto-save: Edit tag content (auto-saves after 10 seconds)
  • Export as PDF: Export any tag's content as a PDF for sharing or reference
  • Manage tags: Rename or delete tags as needed
What is the Countdown Timer for?

The countdown timer helps with productivity techniques:

  • Easy access: Access it by clicking the timer display in your dashboard
  • Custom duration: Set minutes and start the countdown
  • Productivity techniques: Perfect for time-blocking or Pomodoro technique
  • Audio alerts: Plays an alert when time is up
  • Stop alert: Click "Stop" to silence the alert

Account Management

Can I change my account details?

In your user dashboard (click your name in the header), you can:

  • Change username: Change your username up to 2 times (maximum 10 characters)
  • Update password: Update your password (requires old password for security)
  • View profile: View your full name and email (these cannot be changed)
  • Notifications: Toggle daily task reminder notifications
How does the referral system work?

RytePad has a built-in referral system:

  • Get your link: Find your unique referral link in the "Refer Friends" section of your dashboard
  • Share links: Share links like https://rytepad.com/?ref=yourusername
  • Track campaigns: Add &tid=something for tracking different campaigns
  • View statistics: View referral statistics and traffic sources
  • Auto-apply: Referral codes may auto-apply when someone uses your link

Security & Privacy

Is my data secure?

Yes, RytePad takes security seriously:

  • Encryption: All tasks, journal entries, and notes are encrypted
  • Session management: Secure session management with periodic checks every 5 minutes
  • Security headers: Protected with CSP, HSTS, and other security headers
  • Auto-expiry: Sessions automatically expire for your protection

Can I export my data?

Currently, you can export individual tag content as PDFs. This allows you to save and share organized content outside of RytePad.

  • Tag-based exports: Export any tag's content as a professional PDF
  • Sharing: Perfect for sharing project content or keeping offline backups
  • Reference material: Create reference documents from your organized content

Technical Support

What should I do if I encounter an error?

For common issues:

  • Check connection: Check your internet connection
  • Refresh page: Refresh the page
  • Session expired: If you see a "Session Expired" message, simply log in again
  • Persistent problems: For persistent problems, use the support link in the app or contact the RytePad team
How often does content auto-save?

Different features have different auto-save behaviors:

  • Journal daily notes: Auto-save after 10 seconds or when you click away
  • Tag content: Auto-save after 10 seconds or when you click away
  • Tasks and journal entries: Save immediately when you add them
  • Manual save: You can also click "Save" buttons for instant saving
