1. Introduction to RytePad

RytePad is a web-based application that combines task management with journaling. Whether you're organizing daily tasks, setting long-term goals, or keeping a personal journal, RytePad offers an intuitive interface to streamline your workflow.

2. Getting Started

Registration

To begin using RytePad:

  1. Visit rytepad.com and click "Register"
  2. Enter your information:
    • Full Name: Letters, spaces, apostrophes, and hyphens only
    • Email: A valid email address
    • Password: At least 8 characters, including uppercase, lowercase, and a number
  3. If referred, a referral code may auto-apply via a link (e.g., ?ref=username)
  4. Click "Register" to create your account
  5. Check your email for a welcome message from RytePad

Login

  • After registering, log in with your email and password at rytepad.com/login.php
  • You'll be redirected to the main interface at /app/

Upon logging in, you'll see the main interface:

Header: Displays "RytePad" and a home link (🏠), plus your first name or username (clickable for the dashboard)

4. Managing Daily Tasks

Organize your day with the Daily Tasks tab.

Selecting a Date

  • Use the date picker to choose a day
  • Days with tasks have a dot in the calendar

Adding a Task

  1. Type your task in the "Add A Task" field
  2. Click "Add Task" to save it

Managing Tasks

  • Editing: Click the edit icon (✏️) next to a task, update the text, then click "Save" or "Cancel"
  • Completing: Click the checkmark (βœ“) to mark it as done - completed tasks move to the "Completed" section
  • Deleting: Click the delete icon (❌) and confirm to remove it

Viewing Completed Tasks

  • Scroll to the "Completed" section
  • Restore (↩️) or delete (❌) completed tasks

Note: On your first login, default example tasks may appear for today

5. Using the Journal

The Journal tab lets you record daily thoughts.

Writing a Journal Entry

  1. Select a date with the date picker
  2. Type in the "Write a new entry" textarea
  3. Click "Add Entry" to save with a timestamp

Editing or Deleting Entries

  • Edit: Click ✏️, modify the text, and save
  • Delete: Click ❌ and confirm

Adding Daily Notes

  • Write reflections in the "Notes" textarea below entries
  • Changes auto-save after 10 seconds or on blur
  • Click "Save Note" for instant saving

Find tasks or journal entries with the Search tab.

Searching Tasks

  1. Go to the "Search Tasks" sub-tab
  2. Enter a keyword and/or select a date range
  3. Click "Search" to view results
  4. Results show pending and completed tasks with highlights

Searching Journal Entries

  1. Switch to the "Search Journal" sub-tab
  2. Enter a keyword and/or date range
  3. Click "Search Entries" or "Search Notes"
  4. Click a result to jump to that journal date

Clearing Search

Click "Clear" to reset fields and hide results.

7. Setting and Managing Goals

Track long-term objectives in the Goals tab.

Adding a Goal

  1. Type in the "Add a Goal" field
  2. Click "Add Goal" to save

Managing Goals

  • Completing: Click βœ“ to mark it as completed
  • Editing: Click ✏️, update, and save
  • Deleting: Click ❌ and confirm

Managing Completed Goals

Restore (↩️) or delete (❌) completed goals.

8. Organizing with Tags

Use the Tags tab to categorize content.

Creating a Tag

  1. Enter a name (up to 25 characters: letters, numbers, spaces, -, _, #, @, *, ?)
  2. Click "Create Tag"

Viewing and Editing Tags

  • Type in the search bar to filter tags
  • Click a tag to view its details
  • Edit the content textarea (auto-saves after 10 seconds or on blur)
  • Click "Save Content" for instant saving

Tag Management

  • Renaming: Click "Rename Tag," enter a new name and save
  • Deleting: Click "Delete" and confirm
  • Exporting: Click "Export PDF" to download tag content as a PDF

9. User Dashboard

Access your account settings by clicking your name in the header.

Viewing and Updating Details

  • Username: Change it (✏️) up to 2 times (max 10 characters)
  • Full Name and Email: View-only
  • Password: Click "Change," enter old and new passwords, and save

Referral System

  1. Go to the "Refer Friends" sub-tab
  2. Copy your referral link (e.g., https://rytepad.com/?ref=yourusername)
  3. Add &tid=something for tracking
  4. View referral stats and traffic sources

Logging Out

Click "Logout πŸ”’" to end your session.

10. Additional Features

Countdown Timer

  1. Click the timer (e.g., "0:00:00") in the dashboard
  2. Enter minutes and start
  3. An alert sounds when finished; click "Stop" to silence

Daily Task Reminders

In the dashboard, toggle "Daily Task Reminders" to subscribe/unsubscribe.

11. Security and Privacy

  • Encryption: Tasks, journal entries, and notes are encrypted
  • Session Management: Secure sessions with periodic checks (every 5 minutes)
  • Protection: CSP, HSTS, and other headers ensure safety
